Only thing I can tell you is if the dragon has 3 toes (which I think I see) it's Japanese and that may be the lamp's origin, too. Chinese have four and Imperial Chinese have 5 toes...

Possibly could of been bought by a sailor or soldier in Japan after the war and brought back to the States. My grandfather was on a destroyer in the South Pacific during and after the war and he pick up a cool leather duffel bag with a huge dragon on it like yours. Lamp does look like it could be from that time period?? :dontknow:

take a close look at the plug...(but it may have been replaced) for markings, and if you can easily get inside, look at the other parts for clues. Nice lamp, shows wear? or is that intended?

this could be an urn that was made into a lamp.

I agree with unclemac, looks like it might of served some other purpose before it was a lamp. Looks like the hole were the cord is ran through was done after it was originally made and the cord looks much newer. I don't think a manufacturer or artist would drill a rough hole like that through there stamp, or hallmark.

Agree on the hole. The stamp is in kanji, I think... So japanese it is.

Thank you so much everyone. The general consensus I have received here and outside is that it is some sort Japanese urn that was converted into a lamp. I have seen estimates of age from 1890's - 1950's.
