What is the reason a driller will not drill into red bed for water?

Red bed are sedimentary rocks, typically consisting of sandstone, siltstone, and shale which is red in color

• Low Porosity and Permeability: Red beds tend to be tightly compacted and cemented, which restricts water flow. This makes them poor aquifers

Red beds are sedimentary rocks—often sandstones, shales, or siltstones—characterized by their reddish color due to iron oxide (hematite) content.
• They are commonly found in arid or semi-arid regions and often date back to the Permian or Triassic periods.

Makes sense and Thanks!

U need to find water?

what you are doing is exploratory drilling to see if there is indeed sufficient water on your borehole or none. that is too costly. before drilling, you should find the heart of the aquifer or vortex. so that when you drill, you get enough water

Drilling for water can become a family business and the knowledge passed on to the children.

Much of my working life, I was in new home construction mostly the rough-in framing (also outside concrete work & basement floors). Always watched water drilling company do their work, noticed drilling vehicle had painted on side WATER WITCHING the important part of locating.

i am a driller by profession. i understand the business. you are right sir that water drilling can be a part of the family business. and the knowledge of how to drill can be passed on to children. the most important part of water drilling is how to locate sufficient and strong water 100% of the time. when the client is not assured he can get strong water from the driller, he will be so disappointed that he will not pay you the balance of the contract. thus, after experimenting georesistivity and find it having a low success rate, i looked for other ways, and now the technology of finding sufficient and strong water is now perfect.

the problem with water drilling here in the philippines is, most small time drillers offer 100% success also , then leave or abandon the project. their non-chalant and indifferent attitude towards the client give us a bad name. and also, the business of water drilling is so stiff here that you cannot make water drilling business a steady source of family's income.

Our water drillers here know how to dowse for water and utility companies can dowse pipelines or underground cables. I even found underground gas pipeline on our property, without knowing what the target was rods crossed over (until later utility company went across the spot tracing gas pipeline).
