This is a coin I dug about a year ago and have been clueless as to what it may be until I finally matched it up to a 1733 2 pence? The size looks good. I do think I see a upward V in the base of the bust. Also, the coin always did seem to have a round raised area in the back center. This coin is pretty worn as you can see, and pictures are hard to bring out what little detail remains. The site this came from produced many large cents and a few reales and other early silver. Can anyone see what I think I see? Thanks!
What is the diameter? Can you post a photo of the reverse? My first thought on seeing it was a 1760 George II Irish Halfpenny or one of the other George II Irish years.
Thanks for the reply B. The diameter is same as the 2 pence. Bigger than say a 1857 large cent. Fits when I lay it on the book anyway. Is the Irish the same size? I will try and find that in my book also. Cool
