Put some olive oil on her. It's a safe and harmless way to clean her up. It'll take the dirt off and bring out her natural beauty! Just dab it on with a q-tip!

Do not put anything on that coin. Olive oil will leak out of a copper for Years and year. That is as clean as she is going to get.

Pics are not that bad, but shooting on an angle makes variety identification rather hard on a year that has many like the 1803. Based on how the date spacing is and its distance from the bust and the distance of the 1 from the fraction bar, the length of the fraction bar and its relation to 100 is suggesting to me a Sheldon 250 variety.

Olive oil is organic and will decompose over time. I would not use any on that old copper, I have used olive oil on old dug Indians, but I try to remove the excess as much as possible. I have also noticed that hot peroxide baths will darken copper coins. ffd
