I guess British humour is an acquired taste. I thought it a fairly obvious pun, clearly not :-\ >:(

No problem buddy, I would not give that much for a piece of lead, thats just what the book estimates the value to be.
Happy hunting over there!

What is the Mckee & Mason Number on this bullet. I would like to look at it.

Funny because it is a bullet. USD 700 is lots of money for piece of lead. Maybe there is so many civil war collectors in the USA and prices are insane. I don´t know because im foreigner. But sounds funny. ;D

It wasn't direct at you, just a pun on what you guys (generic term I use to mean US collectors) are willing to spend. I see it as slightly crazy but also slightly jealous that so many of you get the true value of History. Over here, you would struggle to get people to recognises it, let alone pay $5 for it :laughing9: Just the way it is, still amazes me though :icon_thumright:

I live in the states and I think that value is absurd as well ::) Still a cool find though!

Yes, it's true. There are some very pricey American Civil War bullets out there. I am looking at the 10th edition of North South Trader Civil War Collectors Price guide. This is a 2003 guide, so it is obviously out of date. Regardless, this Delvigne (M&M #614) listed for $450+. I counted 14 other bullets that listed at over $250 with the highest at $750. Remember, this is the 2003 guide I'm looking at. These prices are based on actual sale prices from dealers.
Some American Civil War lead is almost worth it's weight in gold :laughing7:

So if Peanut sells it will he then be an alchemist?

for Arkansas bullets if they're that
valuable !!
Thanks for the info.!
 :headbang:

i have prolly 50lbs of bullets from Va and SC but none worth more than $5 or $10 so its not that all bullets are valuable lol just the ones that only a few examples of have been dug.. Great find!!! hope you find a few more!

Great dig there Peanut  Hopefully you can find another at that spot!!

I find quite a few of these minie ball types...both austrian and french....and quite a few different ones has well...........are the values based on the bullets or that they where used in the civil war and it's this that gets the values?
