No kidding. I was hunting a CW site today, and dug a bullet that's still encased in wood....it's about the size of a walnut, the rest of the tree is rotted away. I could see a little of the bullet peeking out when I dug it, and part of it cracked off >:( when I was showing it to a neighbor. Any ideas how to keep it from falling apart? I also dug another bullet about 8 inches away, was probably in the same tree (it's smashed from hitting something HARD), a small round ball, and a couple of pistol bullets...........I think one of them is a Savage. It comes out at 36 cal. but I don't know for sure. I only have pictures of the bullet in wood, as the other bullets are going to take some scrubbing.........I'll get them up ASAP.

Thanks for looking,

Roger

Very cool find...I would go with the resin encasement and then keep it as a paperweight...unless there is significant value attached.

Roger,

That's a very unique find, W :o W!! Congrats ;D

The bullet in wood looks great Roger! I have to say to everyone....I was the first to get to see it after you dug it. You did right in the way your preserved it. Can't think of anyone in several years finding a bullet in wood around Donelson. I know it's a prized find you'll treasure for a long time. Way to go! :D

try polyurithane coat it let it dry and coat it again should do the trick. make sure it's dry first.

Thats a great find! Tsgman

I would keep it as is in a tight container....keep as found.

Nice war wood.
Mike
