Dug in old mining town can anyone identify this iron object?

Merry Christmas to you JDD & all our fellow T'Hers. I wish I could be more definitive, but my first thought, because of the off-set "arm" extension, is a pedal, (brake, clutch, engaging mechanism) from some type of farming machinery or a truck or tractor etc.
Possibly a brake pedal to one of those mine ore carts that rolls on rails. Or, possibly a step-on pedal for a heavy-duty jack that's used for jacking up or supporting timbers inside the mines.
