Awesome find! What is the size? It looks like the design of a King Ferdinand VI 2 Reales - he was king 1746-1759.

It could definitely be piece of a two.. doesn't look like it's big enough to be a piece of eight.. It's probably a quarter reale at this point

Thank You Bramblefind, I have been looking around the web but couldn't find it. Here is a new pic for size. I only started relic hunting a few months ago and have found so much stuff to include a civil war hut site that gave me a US Belt buckle, 48 Civil War bullets, medicine bottles, whiskey bottle, and so much more. I am so hooked on relic hunting now am definitely living in the right area for it. Thanks everyone for the input.IMAG0142_edited.webp

It seems to be Silver, I haven't tried to clean it. It came out of the ground just as it is in the pictures. Yes, the one cut is a bit rough.

That's exactly what it is :) cut of 2 reales.webp or maybe a coin from the same series, it don't appear to have the dots along the outside rim as the example, maybe a smaller coin???

I envy you getting to metal detect in the fredricksburg area! Anything 18th century you find could easily have been handled by George Washington or his immediate family!

Its cool but there aren't to many places to go, people don't seem to like relic hunters to much around here. I try to hit the new construction areas with permission but even then I am told to keep out. Frustrating to watch history be buried like that.
