By the way, does anyone know what the "miniature" pick ax looking thing is in 4th pic? Thanks.

Very nice looks to be in good shape

Nice eagle buttons!! Love digging military buttons! Congrats.

Congrats on the 1st!

Anchor thingy could be?

i've seen a few of these included in batches of Civil War finds. I am thinking they are part of early telegraph insulators. Search early Civil War insulators in Google images and see what you think. I believe these sat in a wooden base.

A GREAT day IMO.
Congratz on your first 'I' Eagle Button , nice GS buttons as well.

Davers

That's a nice button, I got a similar one a few weeks ago

Thank you for sharing your hunt and those pictures with us

Very good condition. My first eagle I wasnt that nice. I think I have read accounts of Private Sneezy or Private Dopey losing their pick axe. Lol

Very nice, good condition button and other relics as well.

This is why I love this hobby. For some of us our heart gets racing when we find a piece of history like a military button or C.S.A buckle. For others they get that feeling when they find the silver Barber half or $1 gold coin. And yet others are excited when they pluck a silver ring or gold wedding band from the soil. The items may be different, but the thrill is the same. It's the thing that makes picking through all the trash to find the treasure worth it.
