Thank you Robert! I think you are on the trail. I looked up pressure lamp parts, there’s a part called the frame rest that is very close in shape.Just a guess, but the whatsis seems like maybe part of a lamp?
Thank you Gare!!you did good![]()
Thank you👍!!Congrats on your first war nickel
Hey ya’ll, just found an exact match on line for the whatsit. It’s a napkin ring, looks silver plated.Dug next to a sidewalk in an older part of town. Would anyone have a clue into the whatsit beside it. It was definitely smashed and would open into a ring. Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks for viewing!! View attachment 2228446

The whatzit is sterling silver and is from a salt/pepper/sugar set just like this one I have!

Thanks as always 🌶️ Pepps!! I definitely agree that it is plated. I do believe you are on the money because I see the flaking over the core. 👍Nice going on the war nickel.
Some of these sets were sterling some were just plated.
Looking at yours it's showing copper plating over the brass core. Little file mark will prove what it's content is
Thank you djackson👍!!Nice! Keep swinging!
Denver, and that was my experience exactly. I almost wrote it off as a pull tab but it rang higher. Very confusing signal for sure.War Nickles are tough. I think a "P" rings up real high like a Pull Tab. The rest ring up like regular Nickles. What was your mint?
