As i meet another competitor he has his 15 year old kid checking the reject tray before the old lady who just dumped is walking to the counter so i tell him maybe he should wait till the lady has left the bank.

Later that week another teenager with his parent is checking my reject tray while im waiting for the bag to be changed so i tell him that im waiting for the bag to be changed and any coin in that tray belongs to me but that doesnt stop him. Him or his father either dont get it or dont care. Luckily there was nothing in the tray or i would have had another "incident" to add to my list.

thats when you tell the manager and guard your money. the machines ask you to check the reject tray for belongings or coins that didnt go through.... that kid and his dad could get arrested or thrown from the bank... i'm with you. No way would i let that kid anywhere near me

Quiksilver,
I understand that scenario about the bag changing, but if there is anything in there you should grab it right away,(lets let a coin be "C") if you walk away for about 4-6 minutes, if someone wants to take "C" who's stopping them? How could the bank be sure it wasn't in there before you started pouring in your coins? I mean unless you check before, and then there wouldn't be a problem because you would know and then check after, then there wouldn't be a problem x 2! I don't know, I guess because you said MY reject bin, it really urks me when people say something like that, because isn't that we do, I mean com' on man share the hobby.

This happens to me sometimes as well.
I am waiting for the coin bag to be changed, and this clueless old woman walks up and is about to dump her coins into the machine. I know now to keep my guard up. She was clueless, got mad about the 3 minute wait and walked out.

Another time, I was dumping half dollars, and this little kid, foreign, did not understand english, came up and started taking half dollars out from the reject tray... I tried talking to him, nothing. His mother, she probrably had less understanding then him. Needless to say, I was not going to cause an incident over $1.50, since the kid took 3 half dollars. You just got to take the good with the bad.

I did however over the course of this year find 2 silver quarters in the reject tray, so those more than made up for my loss.

HH!

HUH?! Damn straight it is MY reject bin while I'm using the machine. As for the bank not knowing if it was there before I started dumping… EXACTLY! If there is a coin discovered in any part of the machine that has to do with being rejected, and I've already started dumping my coins into the machine, IT IS MINE. I just got ~ $34 worth of USD 2 weekends ago because there was a bunch of quarters, dimes, nickels and pennies that were in MY reject tube even though the bag I was dumping only contained half dollars.

You must not use machines much. I get very territorial when using them and will guard my machine from other people until I am finished with it. I’m sure QuikSilver didn’t walk away, likely just stepped to the side a bit to get the attention of a teller.

Now I understand why a lot of you are "packing" when you go into a bank :tongue3:

Ok if somebody reaches in the reject bin an STEALS some of my money I get a little testy.

However, since I'm usually dumping 2000 - 6000 coins at a time, if somebody walks in with a small coffee can of coins to count I stop the machine and allow them to proceed before me. This gives me some time to chit chat with the manager or vault teller. It really makes you lok good specially if you have a nasty teller in this branch.

I agree with this completely, though I usually dump no more than $1000 at a time when I use the machines (with the exception of a few branches where I dump 3-5K).

I've even been rewarded for such kindness. I stopped my dump a few weeks ago so that a couple people behind me could dump theirs. About 75 seconds later, I resumed my dumping and found another silver quarter in the reject tube.

DB, It isn't YOUR machine to start with. You own nothing about that machine. The banks are nice enough to let you use them. They don't have to give you a damn thing out of that reject tube. Whatever happened to having integrity? Honesty? As long as you aren't shorted so be it. You are argueing over pocket change for gods sake. No need to talk down to anyone on this forum. We are ALL equal.

Lighten up Francis.

I can't imagine your sentence being any less true. Once his first coin was accepted by the machine, everything in that reject tube is his. That's dumping 101, and it's not even debatable.

Whats a coin counter? Whats a reject tube? :dontknow: :laughing9:

We dont have them in Phoenix, and the banks that do have them, they dont take halves. I would love to see this sacred reject tube and "magnet". Seems like CNC finds a damn silver coin everytime he dumps....must be nice. My only hope is to stand behind some dude while hes using the Coinstar and hope he DUMB enough to leave his change behind after its done CLANKING in the reject slot! Guess how many times that has happened for me. About as many times as I have WL's. 0

Can we all just get along here? This forum is suppose to be for fun. I don't want to piss in anyones cornflakes but we were ALL 14 at one time or another.(Some much longer ago than others ;D) I'm sorry if I came across as a jerk. Anyway Here's to a Happy New Year and Happy Hunting!!

Firstly, I wasn't talking down to anyone, I was enthusiastically supporting the other side.

Like CNC said, once I start dumping my coins in the machine, there is no way they can tell what I dumped and what was already there. Honestly it all works itself out anyway. The day after I came out $34 ahead... another branches machine shorted me $6.50.

I think you are associating the meaning of 'my' to 'own' too literally here... When I have a few hundred dollars in the machine still waiting to be processed, you better believe that I'm going to treat it as if it were mine. I've never had to chase anyone away from it, but I have had a few people try to walk around me but they simply waited in line after I informed them that I was waiting for the bag to be changed.

LOL , to each his or her own.

As for coins in the reject tray while i am dumping they are absolutely mine no opinions are needed as some things are actually black and white.

As for a gray area, coins in the tray while someone else is dumping i was offering about 20X to the person before i started dumping.

I just do not undersand how can someone check the reject bin while you are using the manchine.

The reject bin is infront of you and you are guarding it. I a person reaches the reject bin while I am using the machine that person will be pulverized in a second.
