Found this fob in a bucket of roofing nails at the dump today. Reads; "His Master's Voice" below and "Victor" on the phonogaph. I found that it pre-dates the association with RCA, which puts it before 1929. The back reads "compliments Oliver Ditson Co., Boston". English muffin is for size reference.

Nice English Muffin and tater tot.
I have a violin that was a thrift store find and was imported by Oliver Ditson and Co.
It's an old german Violin from the 1920's .
I restored it and boy can that fiddle talk! Makes thems new fiddle stix seem like kazoos!
It was an early mass produced violin, who knew these things got better w/ age?
Congrats!

With the original enamel on it, and in Mint condition, I bet that thing is worth some Serious Bucks...

I've been rather stunned to find out how true this is. There was apparently a version of this with silver as the base metal (rather than brass like mine) that sells for over $1000!!! That seems absolutely preposterous to me. As I told a friend, its not like these things were carried into battle.
I got very very lucky not to have damaged this... I mentioned it was in a bucket of roofing nails, I didn't mention that I'd dumped these nails (and fob) into a box. Originally it was the bucket I wanted... roofing nails are of no use to me (I'm scared of heights and not afraid to admit it).
I'd like to think I weren't responsible for the top tab being slightly bent, but I don't know.

You have a great find there. I'm a dump picker, too. ;D People throw away the dangest things. Oh, by the way. I would have used the table knife that I'd buttered and jellied that warmed up muffin with as my "size comparison" object. ( burp ) ::)

One last point. Generally speaking, old watch fobs are more valuable than most folks think.

It looks like Austrailian toaster biscuit!!! They make my mouth water!!!

I'm from Australia (as if you didn't know) - what the hell is an Australian Toaster Biscuit????? The only things we have that resemble muffins are muffins. We have crumpets - sure they're round but with holes to allow the butter and honey to soak in mmmmm

Hopefully you didn't find the muffin in the dumpster too. ;D

It was a reference to an American commercial a few years back featuring a young Aussie girl saying that phrase while eating an English muffin. They were packaged as "Australian toaster biscuits".

"They make me mouth wa-tah!"

You need a nice, home baked pie for reference for the muffin! Nice stuff!

What a sweet find! And that tater tot is the funniest thing I've seen all day. :laughing7:
