One of my dump banks offered to let me deposit coins in bags and even gave me a supply of bags. They send the bags out to be counted and I would have to wait 1-2 weeks for the deposit to hit my account.

Do any of you folks have experience with dumping this way? The delay in getting credit to my account is annoying, but I can probably deal with it if this sames me from running all over the place to dump coins (I only search 1-2 boxes of halves per week, but may up my volume if this arrangement works). I would have to "float" money to the bank, essentially, but as long as I am receiving credit to my account on a regular basis it should work out (just need to dedicate a larger bankroll to hunting). My bigger concern is that I am shorted on the count and there is nothing I can do about it. Have folks had this happen oftern with halves that are dumped in bags this way?

Takes about 3 days from the date the carrier picks it up. At least that is my experience with bags at Chase for cents.

I had a bank once tell me that I had to start unrolling my coins and bag them and they would send them out to be counted and then credit my account and they said it would take about a week. I have since them been turning my rolls in elswhere, because I need my bankroll to continue getting more coins and not wait for it. lol

My bank credits me right away, just like a cash deposit. If there are too few or too many per bag they just credit or debt my account. (This has not happened yet). A good standing relationship with your bank helps.

I tried it out with Bank of America once. It took every bit of 10 or 11 business days to get the credit. After that experience, I never tried it again.

In my AO, banks allow me to exchange bags for cash. Recently though, some a-hole has been shorting bags by quite a bit, to the point the banks are investigating him for fraud. As it sits now, I am the only person it the entire city who is still allowed to dump in bags. It pays to be really nice to tellers and bank managers ;)

I dump in bags, gave 2 this morning and walk out with the cash. If I dump with the boxes, same thing, give them the box, walk out with cash.

I dump in bags to all but 1 small bank. Word of warning though, be careful when dumping your coins into bags for them to count, be vigilant on keeping track and auditing your bags, its all fun and games until you come up 9k short in your accounts. I was lucky enough though they found the money.
