Seems that my house always has a little construction (by me) going on. Maybe I should have a dumpster dragged onto my front lawn. !0' by 60'?

the amazing thing is that alot of it is only trash in the eyes of the person throwing it out.
i worked at a dept. store back in the 80s that threw out so many returned items that had
nothing at all wrong with them. this one guy drove a beautiful cadillac and dove in out dumpsters
all the time. his kid would stand on the outside and he'd do the diving. man i cant wait til my boy is
old enough to be my wingman. ;)

leftybassplayer, As to why stores throw good stuff out! It's a tax thing, They get more for a loss then to sell it. And a landlord can't take possession of a persons property, but can only set it out to curb or dumpster.

I grew up in a very "Posh" neighborhood and when I was younger, some of my friends would look forward to "large trash day" once a month when all the LARGE items were put out on the manicured lawns for pick up... They would get TV's, VCR's, Stereo's and some antique furniture and such.... Simply because these people bought new stuff and were tossing out the old.
My Friend got a "new" phone this way and everytime it rang it would announce "You have a phone call". Well after about the 5th phone call, he decided to let that phone go to the next diver! ;)

my brother made a living for about 3 years dumpster diving and touring the local richville on trash day......finds from richville include antiques of all sorts, brand new power tools, furniture like new, he could have opened a store.......dumpster finds included a nearly new 10 speed bike, car stereos, books and furniture galore, and around yearly tax inventory time it is amazing how much brand new stuff would go in the trash behind malls......his best time to hit richville was the 3-4 weeks after christmas as they threw away new expensive stuff to make room for more new expensive stuff......dumpster greats were located behind shopping malls, apartment complexes, and the best was behind sears as every craftsman power tool that is returned for any reason evidently goes in the dumpster...he would rescue these, often only having to re-attach a wire or replace a switch and have an instant 20-30 bucks at the flea market.....schools also at the end od the year as alot of then will throw away books and such to make room for new,,he rescued many books and also 13- 2 year old dell computers as they weren't needed i guess what with our tax dollars buying new ones to replace the like new ones he recovered........while doing this type searching you can cruise by mcdonalds dumpster for lunch, then stop by krispey creme for a little out back desert...ha.....gldhntr

i am not embarrassed at all ~ i think its a great form of recycling and shows how rescourceful you really are.
college kids and young people have it so well in this disposable society that they dont even get to the thought
that its mommy and daddys money they r wasting. hell half their parents dont care neither. i am only 39 but my
dad was old school . he never threw out anything. he didnt have the convenience of lowes , home depot and
walmart to back him up. he pretty much was his own hardware store. so he kept what he needed to fix stuff
a piece of wood here , piece of metal , nuts , bolts etc etc LBP
