Eagle belt plate from below a eagles nest

Took the canoe out and explored some new stretch of waterway. Found an SLQ and a merc at two different locations. Location number 3 was below an eagles perch or nest. Couldnt see the nest but it was probably there or nearby. It was really squawking about the same time I was digging a really good signal in the rocky sand. Couldnt believe my eyes when my first eagle plate appeared. No idea yet on its age or if its a repro. Its 3” x 2”. Any help appreciated

Thanks. I try to stay below the high tide line as beyond that would be trespassing. This area was below a 100 foot high bluff anyway

I would be dreaming of a screaming Eagle return hunt, and what's up on top of the cliff for a permission, because those kind of finds makes us all dream the best dreams.

Thanks. I didnt even realize eagle plates were still used during the civil war let alone decades later. Thought all the ones posted were 1820s-40s. I just dont get much early military stuff so thrilled to have it
