Any backmark, I assume its 1 piece circa 1820-30s??

Looks patriotic :dontknow:

No back mark Cru, and yes its one peice. Iron Patch mentioned he thought it was around 1812. So your guess would be right around that time aswell. Thanks for your input.

I think it's probably Navy. It looks like the eagle faces right, but I'm guessing it's left. Can you confirm?

There appears to be a match for the Eagle style and stars, BUT, I don't see the anchor in shield, Alberts NA32A, 14 star version. 23mm in diameter, I believe that is the closest I could find on the Eagle syles on a flat line/branch, with his beak open.

Don

ADDED: It is possible if there is no anchor device that it could be a diplomatic button, there are similar ones with I believe about 17 stars, no anchor but close on eagle style, so consider that a possibilty if no military connection is found.

Looking at the button the way it is in the pic he is facing right. But it would be his left. If that makes any sence.

Ok, that's what I thought but most Navy have the eagle looking the other way.

I believe what you have there is a post revolutionary war button. Ignore the script on this picture, the description is actually on the page before. It states " GI 27 B Infantry, Officer; 1-piece. An eagle facing left, 14 six-pointed stars encircling. Blank; 1-piece; 23 mm. RV 100."

Nice find.

Looking at this again and seeing bearbqd's comment. I think going to have to take back what I originally said and agree with him.

Thank you everyone for the help. Bearbqd, thank you for the ID. Does your book say if this button is rare? Way older then I thought it was going to be. Thanks again.

Yep, I'd say that's it. I missed that one when I was searching for a match of the angle of the left wing (The only hope I thought for a conclusive ID), it was different than almost all buttons, and appears to be a good match.

So it is a good 1812 er!
