Relic Hunting
Haven't posted in a while. Hunting the same site that I been hunting for a while. I previously posted a pic of a KGII medal that has Queen Caroline on the back. To my amazement, I found a smaller one with the same KGII and Caroline (both are in the pics below) that has the hook still attached at the top, guess it was intended to be used as a necklace?? I have not been able to find much info on these?? I also found several broken pieces of "ear bobs", and the two pieces of jewelry (with the clear and green stone. I have no idea how old these are and would welcome any info on these items. I also found a flint lock hammer (?) and tons of shot lead/musket balls. hope you enjoy the view!! And have also have found 5 more bracelets!!

It looks like relics from the early to mid 1700's the "jewelry" are parts of a 2 piece cross .. I've seen them in clear, blue and green... see photo attached.
Best Regards
Bob

Wow, thanks Bob for the info!!! The "cross" didn't even cross my mind :) I will keep searching that site to find the missing pieces! I have found several pieces of trade silver in that same spot also. thanks@!!!!

Wow! Very nice finds. That's one heck of a site you are on.

Cool stuff!
The cross sometimes had purple amethyst as well.. and it appears yours is what's called "rose cut" that particular cut looks to date that find to the early 1800's
Looks like a couple rusty pocket knives and two rolled copper tinklers in there as well.

IMO, those royal medals would be banner finds if more people paid attention to this corner of the forum.

I agree.. I also want to add.. I'll bet that was good ground for a good reason..and was likely utilized long before Europeans showed up.
I'd be willing to bet the are Native stone artifacts as well as non metallic Early European artifacts like clay pipes and musket flints there as well.

thanks gatorboy for the info!!! And yes, there was much activity in this area....beads,arrowheads,stone tools, flints, pipes etc! i have a few posts in the indian artifacts section. Also, i do agree that the medals are awsome, i haven't found anything similiar on any other MD'ing site or the internet. I found the 2 of the them in the same area.

Very interesting.. should make for some good research.
Your very welcome.

Should you ever decide to sell 'em, give me a buzz. :icon_thumright:

I will keep that in mind....but assure you I would NEVER sell them :) I know it's dorky, but I look at all my stuff at least once a day, LOL!!!!

Most of us do.. I know when I'm out of town for a week I come back and feel much better with my finds near...and they look even better.

Ha ha... I feel the same way.
Never expected you'd sell anything but couldn't hurt to ask. :)
