Just wanted to share these fine and colorful early archaic beauties.......The first one is a 3" x 1 5/8" Pinetree/Hardaway hybrid found in Goat Creek, a tributary of the Hurricane watershed system located in Northeast Mississippi. It exhibits exquisite flaking on both faces and is extremely thin and symmetrical. One blade edge exhibits a recurve, most likely due to sharpening. The base is heavily ground and the edges are serrated. I'm not sure what the 'official' name of the lithic material is; we call it 'Tishomingo' in these parts. The color speaks for itself. It is super-glossy and a high grade of flint. The reason I call it a hybrid is, it exhibits characteristics of both types. That means that it dates back at least 7000-8000 b.p. possibly even longer. Number two is a McCorkle point made from a very rare material, Horsecreek chert, or Pickwick Tri-color. This is a cutie! Again, color, color, color!!!!!!! It also dates back to the early archaic age. Thanks for looking and Happy Hunting, folks. The compliments and comments are much appreciated!

If you had been here longer, the Mods wouldn't hesitate to Bannerize those!

A banner in my book. Please keep posting those wonderful pieces of art.

Hey Mods, did you hear that? Bannerize 'em! Ha! Thank you for the kind words. It would be neat, if that could happen!

Good looking points. It is amazing the workmanship in stone. The horse creek chert on the bifuricated is not uncommon in Tennessee and a big favorite of mine. Thanks for all the color. When did you find these? Both high quality.
Happy Holidays
