Pre-dawn front lawn metal detecting. This was my 4th target! I know it is late 19th to 20th century, no mark, but red paint on back,
The only thing I found online associated with red paint and army button was D. EVAN'S & CO... who knows? The target was 3 to 4 inches deep in front of the train station where my grandfather left for WWII.

It can't be 19th C as its post-1902, the rest I will leave to others.

Great button!!

Congratualtions on the nice button find! :occasion14:

Nice eagle button

Thanks CRUSADER, I had a poor reference site to go off of in a quick fit of googling. Anything helps to narrow it down!

It's either a ww1, ww2 great seal button

Someone should be able to, its an unusual back. Looks very modern to me.

Looks like the general service button of the ww2 and later uniforms

Super nice hunt.:wav:

How awesome for you that button is. Thanx for the background story on your grandfather.

Many servicemen and women went to battle to WWII from a train station. For some it was the last time to ever see a loved one.
