Early South Carolina Navy, Reales, KG'S, and more...
This is a total of four hunts on three different sites. It was a blast discovering the rare, South Carolina Naval button. When I was looking everything over I lightly brushed a layer of dirt off of the button and an anchor appeared, then the two headed eagle. I was thinking over the pond maybe. I was elated to find that it was an, Albert's NA10B 1802 to 1808 South Carolina Navy. Wish the soil was a little kinder to this one but its a great save. Seven military buttons in all. The small Calvary and naval button were still sporting a gilt jacket. Two half reales, 1784 and 1801. The 1736 KG was a beaut. It was under a brick and saved from the dreaded fertilizer, otherwise I'm sure it would have been one fried Kingy. Two counterfeit reales. One a 1790 8 reale broken in half. The other a possible cob or cut cob. It was plated all the way around and also tapered both ways When the frog came out all muddy I had know clue until it was cleaned. It was gold gilt on both sides. The melted half dollar sporting a quarter on its back was fused together. Two more big hunks of silver coins of all sizes and who knows what else with a glass button kicker embedded. Many buttons and smalls. One beautiful week it was.
