Three day weekend so decided to spend Friday and Saturday at the old farm. Friday was kind of crappy, fog and not as warm as expected. Only stayed a couple hours. Worked again in the tall grass area to get that done before the grass grows again. Looking over ariels this past week, we got a good idea where the old house and shed were. The house burned in the 1950's.
Saturday, we finished up in the tall grass area and went back in the woods to see if we could squeak any more coins out of the ground. My wife was fortunate to find one!
Friday's Finds: I posted this one over in the What Is It forum. I was thinking Bridle Rosette, however oldmxrat and Trezurehunter think it's a dandy button. Looks like it has a woodland scene. It's 47.4mm in diameter. 1.3mm thick, and weights 16.64 grams.
Thinking Wiffletree end.
Some other odds and ends.
My wife found a couple of keepers including the great coat button.
Saturday's Finds: Tall grass area.
My first find was a spoon handle.
Next was the presidential token and baby spoon.
Some other odds and ends.
This sweet bell that still rings.
My wife's tall grass finds.
Back in the woods.
My wife pulled this Matron Head. No date we can see.
I found this sweet button. LEVENWORTH & CO - EXTRA, the back mark looks to be 1830's. Still some gilt left on the front in the design.
Last find of the day was the ONE DOUBLOON COIN. Looks like a souvenir coin or similar. Haven't found one with the eagle on the reverse yet and have no idea when these were made or if they are still being made. All in all, it's a good quality coin that appears to be made of copper or bronze.
Thanks for looking...
