When a buyer makes an OBO offer can they rescind the offer before the 48 hours ends? If not, I can sit for 47 hours and hope someone takes it out or makes a better offer?

Yes, the buyer can rescind their offer, IIUC.

I've actually had it happen to me...no biggie though. They made an offer, and then rescinded it because they found another item.

I have had some success email the buyer saying "I was hoping to be at $50. If I counter at that price, will you accept it?".
