Eclipse 950 vs d2

How much better is the d2 from the 950 if any...it's for a vx3.... Didn't want to waist my money if it wasn't a big upgrade .... Thanks

The D2 goes deeper and covers ground much better. The only 950 coil that I owned came with my MXT and it's been collecting dust since I bought the D2. If you put a D2 on you'll be hearing a whole new layer of targets you couldn't hear with the 950 is my opinion

Will that D2 out perform the 950 on the beach also? I'm on Long Island so ill be doing some beach hunting as well

I've never hunted a saltwater beach but from what I've read the best coil on a saltwater beach would be the 950

There are several threads discussing the D2 vs 950. Some prefer the 950, some the D2.

I prefer the D2. Covers ground better, and just plain separates better. The 950 can mask targets if they are close together. With the D2 you don't have that problem. As far as depth, the D2 might be a little deeper but certainly not any less deep. Plus the more mineralized your ground is, the more the D2 will shine.
The only time the 950 has been back on either my MXT/P or VX3 is for testing/comparison purposes. Never hunt with it anymore.
If you are use to pinpointing with a concentric, the DD might take some getting use to. I again prefer the DD for pinpointing. I never have to use pinpoint function. Just wiggle the tip of the coil to find the mark. Easy shmeasy!
