Around Oct. of 2001 this fox showed up at my house. It wasn't afraid of humans or the cats. It stayed under the house and each morning and afternoon I would give it a little dog food or lunch meat but not enough to stop it from hunting for food. I got it to eat from my hand. It loved pecans and apples. When my daughter came home from college for Xmas, this thing wouldn't let her out of it's sight. Where she went, the fox went, walking right by her side. I thing this was someones pet and they got tired of it and dumped it at the house as it was so tame. I think it probably was a woman that had the fox as it took a shine to my daughter right away. I thought it was a male at first so I named it Ed Earl, a nice Texas name LOL, but found out it was a female and renamed it Edwena. Stayed at the house for about 4 months and finally disappeared. Probably found a mate. It would even climb a tree next to the house and get on the roof and sun itself. My daughter had to leave to go back to college and came over to, so called, see me before she left, but I think she came to see the fox LOL. The fox knew she was there but she didn't get out of her car and the fox jumped on her car and waited until she got out. The fox never allowed me to touch it but my daughter could.

That's a great story and very VERY awesome pic's!!! Thank you for sharing... :)

Ron, Maybe the fox didn't take to you like your daughter because he didn't like
the old man smell. :tongue1:

Tico, I never thought of that, you may be right lol.

Shaun7, if the fox had shown any aggression at all, I would have disposed of it right away.

I know that, anyone would! This has come as a shock over here and I'm not trying to put foxes down in any way...I like them :)

They seem to be blaming it on them becoming too used to people in urban areas, but I still can't understand it :dontknow:

Sorry Ron c, you're fox is beautiful :icon_thumleft:

Shaun, I know what your saying. Afterall, this is a wild animal and personally I don't care for wild animals in close proximity to ones home no matter how tame they seem to be. This appeared to be a young fox and who knows, if it had stayed and as it got older, this thing could have one day turned aggressive towards the pets, so I was glad in one way that it left, but sad because I enjoyed seeing it play around in the yard.

Had pet red foxes as a youngster . They were great pets . Became hell on the chickens as they got older .
Local 'possum cop' found out about them and made me turn them loose as I had no permits to keep them :(

Animals are amazing, sometimes they just respond or act in a way that gives you reason to rethink things. I saw this the other day and I was like, "No way! How awesome is this!"
