Real nice weather so a short hunt was in order grass was high so on with the snake guards . Tough hunting no bare ground and all the gopher mounds were powdery dirt nothing showing . No rain to wash things down so I just flipped every chip and found a few . Nice quartz Dart Martis Cluster and some Sierra Contracting Stem Cluster Late Archaic slate and basalt . Nice hunt! I keep waiting for the floods to recede here. Dying to get out. Been fishing a lot and catching them in the azelas. It will be a dash when the water drops.

Are quartz points common in that area ? I am used to seeing these mostly in the Southeast.

A lot of Quartz and Quartz Crystal was used in the foothills of N. California .

Nice saves Dennis. I really like the form of the far right artifact...

Thanks looking closer today that point may have had an impact fracture on the other side and the base is snapped / Broken it had side notches not sure of type . I need to take a photo of the flip side Starting to have an Elko look ?

I really like seeing the work on that one larger(of the three) either basalt or blue-schist/cal slate point. They had to have a very durable tool for that work.

Great looking point! The IH penny just sets a great tone for the pictures! Thanks for posting.

Do we get to see the other side?

:clock:

Here it is looks like the edge was worked on what I thought was impact damage . The material is fine grained Basalt some tough old rock
