We had a little rain so of to the Edlers Camp we need a lot more rain to wash this camp down. The dead grass and weeds are still too tall I just hunted the gopher mounds 4 hours of walking in circles and zig zigging beat the skunk. Found a few in the Sierra Contracting Stem Cluster and a nice Quartz Dart point. N. California private property same little camp I hunt after any decent rain just a couple of acres over 40 years now.

You seem to find only points here. Was this just a hunting spot or have you seen any indication of seasonal habitation... fire cracked rocks and the like, debitage etc? I remember Larson's awesome posts and how he was pretty much just walking through an abandoned village, finding EVERYTHING. Speaking of which... is anyone we know even hunting his site anymore?

This was a year-round village/camp bedrock mortar's most of my collection of stone beads earspools nose and ear pins portable mortar and pestles hand stones metates shell beads all came from the same area and thousands of points.

what is the topography? ... how does it fit in with the surrounding landscape? Is it a hill top, a plateau on a hill side? does it have a good view of what is around it? How about water source... seasonal? Is it in forested land or more open? Any indication of fish in the diet?

About 3000 feet elevation below the snowline some years topography is rolling to getting steep with a big meadow the camps are on small knolls with flats in a small valley springs and year-round creek surrounded by forest and oak woodlands. The river below the camp had large runs of salmon lots of wildlife and in the past, there was Grizzly Bear and Elk still have Black Bear Deer and Mountain Lions and small game. The whole village site has been disturbed by development / subdivision. Several smaller camps nearby and large village sites on the south side of the river. It's the same as camps on our property and surrounding area we're a little lower in elevation Central Sierra Nevada Foothills. Only 12 miles from home Thanks for the interest

sounds perfect, I see it completely

do you know the source for your rock crystal finds? They are so uncommon so I assume the source is very local.

do you know where they are, have you dug them?.... I am wondering if they were using fully formed prismatic crystals.

Yes, I have dug them, and they used fully formed crystals most likely exclusively I have found double terminated and singles all over the place along with clusters. Some really large crystals and clusters have been found close by both clear rock crystal and white quartz.

All of these crystal points came from just across the meadow at Tilly's Hill

have you ever tried working that stuff!

I went back out there today and hunted in the rain until I got wet and cold. Same Cluster Sierra Contracting Stem Cluster the light-colored arrow point is a Gunther.
