No, not the Legendary City, the Detector. I just made a deal with a fella for one. Talked to him on the phone and he says he bought it new from the Factory in Scottsdale when he was living there. Says he has the original receipt, manual and paperwork for it and that it only has about 5 hours use on it. So, is this one that will work at all for gold nuggets? I thought when i made the deal that it was basically an older version of the Vaquero but after i got off the phone with him i looked it up on the Tesoro sight and i guess it only operates at 10Khz instead of the 14 Khz like i thought. But i still think it should work somewhat well at least since it does have ground balance and threshold. If not i may see if anyone would be interested in it on a trade for a Vaquero, or maybe a Garrett Scorpion or Fisher Gold Bug SE.
So now that i already made the deal, what is one of them worth?

I can't tell you what the Eldorado is worth but can tell you the Vaquero won't be a good nugget finder even at the higher freq. It won't have the gain necessary like the Gold Bug, Super Lobo or GMT, Stinger or Minelab Eureka.

Ohh well, it should work fine for coins and jewelry at least. Will see what i thinl of it after it gets here. This is the older big metal box model and not the plastic Umax style.

Not much wrong with the Eldorado. It is a good general purpose detector.
Won't be hot on the itty bitty nugs like the gold Bug but then it was not designed to go for the small stuff.
The 10khz makes it good for larger gold in fairly heavily mineralised ground (has good GB range)and it will find it deep. There is not a huge difference between 15khz and 10khz as far as response to gold is concerned.
The detctor has VCO, Manual GB, Sensitivity control and frequency shift. These features make it very usefull for gold, relic and competition hunting and I think it is good for fresh water work so long as you don't drown the control box. Won't be all that flash on salt beaches but it does have a silent search disc mode that will be ok in the dry sandy beaches.

I agree Adrian pretty much said it, neither of these you mentioned are actual gold machines ( like the Gold Bug ) Both are general use , I myself have the Eldorado an yes it will fine gold just not the tiny stuff , it's not a depth killer but it will work .The Eldorado is a awsome coin an jewelry machine its light weight also makes it a great machine for club hunts . Fair price on it is between $300-$350 depending on its condition , As far as relic hunting the Eldorado will run right up there with the big dogs an find the good stuff .

This is the older larger metal box under the pole or hip mount Eldorado. It weighs a little more than the newer Umax style. But it should work just as well. I think i got a fair deal on it. Not sure i want to say exactly what that was in case i wind up trying to sell it here. ;D
