Electrolysis power source

Electrolysis,
Can I use a 12v battery charger for this purpose or is it from a battery only?

I think either of them will work.

An automatic battery charger won't work, (they also won't charge a completely dead battery) as they must sense some voltage from a battery.

You need to use a manual charger.
