Hi hodge ...look at the Crown it's not right for a side on portrait, it's more like a face forward Crownhodge said:Just a thought...maybe the scan has been 'flipped', and what we're seeing is a mirror image. Sounds logical to me.
hodge (again).

Nice find ...but there seems to be a few things strange about the coin the reverse looks fine but the obverse doesn't seem right, The coin looks like a sixpence, which should be left facing bust of Elizabeth1, and the Rose would be behind here head on the right your coin looks like a right facing bust also it looks if the legend is the wrong way around, note the E ..if I hadn't seen the date I would have thought it looked like a EdwardV1 sixpence
This might be a contemporary copy, which would make it even more interesting

It's not a Mirror image, because if you look at the Crown.... it's correct, just the wrong type, and should be at an angle, not a facing Crown yet the letters seem to be reversed, very interestingCRUSADER said:Silver Searcher said:

well spotted.
I didn't give it a second glance, obivious now you point it out. I guess we need to rev the image to discount that theory & see what its like. Or just wait for a response, could be an interesting one 8)
