Have a look at this wonderful portrait on this Elizabeth 1 penny, the coin itself has a couple of cracks but the queens image makes up for that. The coin was just laid on the top looking up at me. Not long after this gorgeous little medieval coin weight came up. Think the weight may be for a rose noble of Edward IV 1464-70.

yeah got to admit I like them also, trouble is when you find one you think your going to find the coins they were for close by. And I never do

Yeah, I find them in the strangest places. Miles from anyway, & no where near the fairs or markets

For me Oliver Cromwell was better than any English monarch. Elizabeth's reward to the sailors that beat the Spanish armada was to leave most of them dying on their ships rather than pay them.
