Equinox 800, To Update or Not?

Howdy all, I finally bought my first detector. I know I have tons to learn, but was wondering what the general consensus is on updating the software right out of the box or would it be better to try learning the basics with it before updating?

Any input will be greatly appreciated!

It probably has the latest update already, but, if not, I would install it.

I'd go with whatever it came out of the box for several hunts. I'm not the norm...I went back to the first version the Equinox came with, after trying the new versions. Point is, try the machine as it came and have yourself a solid feeling to baseline from. jm2c

Yes, update if not already. See if you can choose the 4k frequency...if you can you have it. Good luck!

I say update. Same reasons you run the updated software on your phone/computer. chances are it's preloaded anyway with V3 and there hasn't been another update yet.

Think of your detector as your girl friend (or boy friend) - you always want to update!
