Post mint damage. It had gotten super heated at some time (house fire, someone using a torch, who knows?) and a gas bubble formed inside the coin. You can still see much of the dark residue from the heating.

Yep, that's a cooked coin. The bubble forms between the layers. Remember that the cupronickel and copper layers are cold pressed together by force.
