Hello,
I got these at an estate sale. The one in the group picture on top and in the center looks like a crude corner notch knife to me. Also looking for opinions on the black markings on the one point and the material type on the one with the pinkish gray colors.

Thanks for looking

the black markings look like fire points, the pinkish one could be granite or quartz, but quartz is kind of brittle
so I'd think granite

I'm not exactly sure of the material on the pinkish point, but in my 44 years of collecting I have never seen a point made from Granite so I highly doubt it's Granite.

The black stuff on the point is a result of being close to or having gone through a fire. My great grandfather's collection went through a house fire in 1950 and some of the points ended up looking like that.

The other piece is made from Prarie Du Chien chert which is common in southern, central, and west central Wisconsin. The other quartz points are made of Hixton silicified sandstone that outcrops on Silver Mound near the town of Hixton Wisconsin. The third picture is probably Platteville chert that outcrops.......wait for it......near Platteville. ;D

Hope this helps a little.
