Etrac Lower Shaft Came Apart

As you can see by the picture, the plastic piece at the end of the carbon fiber shaft broke its bond and slid right off.
This happened while the detector was sitting in the back of my car.

Any advice on reattaching it? I have some rod building (fishing rod) epoxy that I could mix up. Super glue?

I would say your rod building epoxy would be the choice. That stuff is awesome and far superior to superglue.

I had one do the same thing. I used a 2 part epoxy that fixed it, no problem.

It would, but I am not to confident about trying to drill a hole in a carbon fiber shaft.


I think I'll go the epoxy route.

Before you mix up the epoxy, sand the end lightly to roughen up the surface of the rod. if your lower rod has the squared off end that goes into the upper shaft, install it so that you can line up your upper shaft with your coil at the opposite end. you can drill and install a plastic nut and bolt after the epoxy dries. it is easy to drill the carbon fibre......Pete

No big deal, the shaft on my Safari is a bit loose there too.

as far as a lot of money to pay for a detector, my etrac paid for itself within a couple months, is well made, and my customer service experiences with all of my minelabs has been outstanding. BTW, they aren't that much money from Mike at Woodlanddetectors.com
