I mean, that today I had several choices as to where to go for a walk. Mansion? Clad fest? A stumble field?

Sometimes I choose a path where I have good potential for finding "old". Or, maybe a path where I have good possibilities but am almost always bothered by some busybodies along the way. Then, there are clad areas where I'm left alone but usually only find clad.

I just didn't feel like being bothered by anyone today. So, I chose a known clad fest area.

I got more than I bargained for!!!

Ya know....I think Fishy just might have something there. Aren't those lil gold things.....um....."gold"?

0409192011c~2.jpg

Blingie's in full swing!

And then ....as always...a *WONDERFUL* surprise!

2019-04-09-20-29-15.jpg

On just one more shallow penny hit, look at what turned up!!!

2019-04-09-20-27-32.jpg

A personal achievement!!
This is my first one!

I'm taking any further cleaning very seriously. Right now, I can tell what it is!! Don't want to screw that up!

2019-04-09-20-30-22.jpg

Can you read that!? Lol!
A *very* happy moment in my "career"!

Thanks for allowing me to share it with somebody!

And... Thanks for peeking!

Don't cha love it, when you go, purely expecting one thing, then you get your brain snapped around? Really nice to find in clad land. Love the surprises, and gold is never bad either. Congrats. HH

I love when people find really old coins in places that they are not even expected! Congrats on that coin! I've found some draped busts but never a half cent. That is a great one!

Do not clean the coin. Get a set of the Andre's pencils and lightly rub. Do not use water or oils.

Very nice score on that Half Cent Whadi. Looks like all the clad was just a bonus for battery money on that walk !

I understand, Cat. This is not just a first for me. Its also, very possibly, very very rare! I know its not in much shape but it is easily identifiable! For those who aren't familiar, take a peek on the net for this coin.

I've been wanting to try those pencils anyway. This is a perfect opportunity!

Thanks for your advice!

Well, it was already a favorite spot for me but a whole new dimension has been added. I could read half cent as soon as I dug it and wanted to clean it sooooo bad in the field. Glad I held off! It is a special coin in many ways. A first for me and a fairly rare example to boot! Also, in a former clad farm.

Thanks!

Wow, great find! I have had some good luck cleaning with the Andres Pencils, only using the one in the set that is basically tightly bound 0 grit steel wool. The other Pencils easily can scratch an old copper. Best results were when some dirt was still on the copper and definitely practice with some crusty wheats first. Otherwise I would contact Scrappy on his zapping technique that looked amazing. Congrats!!
