Rocky Mountain Industrials (RMI) was ordered to stop mining by the U.S. Department of the Interior in a Jan. 3 letter citing permit violations and a lack of evidence of market development.
 
That mine supplied Mid Continent Coal with lime that they sprayed for dust control to bad it was so close to the town of Glenwood Springs. The green alliance has been fighting getting that mine shut down for years.

Quarry is under different terms then mining for other minerals. The only thing effecting the change is "Critical minerals" listings. So yes, only a "permitted" "mining" can take place.
