Excal settings

frozen

that is what it is suppose to do.......................loose the auto and set it around noon on the clock face or maybe 1..............11: if not to noisy...............

THAT IS THE G R E A T THING ABOUT THE MINELABS- they give u tones.

no tone is what we call a NULL...............MEANS U WHEN OVER IRON SOMETHING-JUNK, but u should have gotten initial beep to let u know it was there.

pennies sound one way................quarters another................dimes another and the wonderful nickel, pull tabs, some alum. all sound like gold rings, soon u will be able to tell by what tone it is.

hunt in zero descrimination tooooo

when that baby nulls..................dig a few for your peace of mind - junk, i have dug some nice looking chains that nulled...........many what is up with that...........two hours later they were rusting in my bag..........junk.

Thanks digger I figured thats what the null was but it only beeped a couple of times. So far I am very impressed with this machine I was digging coins at at least a foot deep yesturday.

I set my desc between 1 and 2, sensitivity to about the 12 position (varies between 11-1) and my threshold to where I can just barely hear it. Volume is 3/4 on.

Works for me. ;D

Max or Digger as you call him is right on the money. He is the man when it comes to Excals.

On some beaches you can use just the AUTO disc. setting and on others you will get deeper with it off the AUTO setting. I think it is best to learn on auto till you get the hang of it. The Excal is one fantastic detector an you will do very well with it.
