COULD ANY EXCAL USER ENLIGHTEN ME AS TO THE PROPER TECHNIQUE FOR FINDING NECKLACES AND CHAINS. I HAVE READ SOMETHING SOMEWHERE RECENTLY ABOUT WHEN THE MACHINE NULLS OUT FOR IRON IT COULD ALSO BE FOR A FAINT SIGNAL OF NON-FERROUS THAT THE DETECTOR MIGHT MISTAKE FOR A PIECE OF IRON. BUT IF SO HOW CAN YOU TELL THE DIFFERNCE?? I HAD ALWAYS THOUGHT THE NULLING WAS ONLY CAUSED BY IRON. SO I HAVE NEVER DUG A NULL SIGNAL. IF THE SIGNAL IS BROKEN UP BUT SIGNALS IN BOTH DIRECTIONS I DIG.I HAVE FOUND SEVERAL CHAINS THIS WAY. BUT I HAVENT HEARD ABOUT THE NULL BEING A INDICATOR OF A POSSIBLY GOOD SMALL TARGET.
I APPRECIATE ANY HELP YOU GUYS AND GALS COULD GIVE ME. ???

It has been my experience that the Null is only for the iron objects. I search with Disc. at 2, Sens. in manual. Lay down a gold chain and scan it. A thin one now, don't cheat an lay down one of them Rapper chains. If you are going to dig Nulls, hunt in PinPoint.

If you hunt in all metal you will find that iron objects give a longer broader dull signal gold items will give a sharper signal, chains are a sharp short blip, sometimes very weak and easily missed if threshold is too loud. hunting in disc listen for very dull faint signals assosciated with chage in threshold tone.good hunting seeya neilo
