hi all. i have an excalibur 1000 and seriously thinking of buying the excalibur 2. can anyone tell me that has an excalibur 2 how the new machine works as compared to the old. and does the new slim line coil stay on the bottom without forcing it down? thanks. the reason why i'm looking for a new excALIBUR IS BECAUSE MINE IS ABOUT 13 YEARS OLD, SO I WILL USE MY OLD ONE AS A BACKUP.

I cant comment on the performance of the Excal II as I havent had mine out in the water yet, but the coil is the same as the Tornado coil on the Sov and its epoxy filled and will not float. Its thinner and lighter than the older BBS coils.
Also dont forget they now have the nimh battery packs on them.

I was at Kellyco one day a couple weeks ago while picking up some supplies and talked to them about the Excal II. I was told so far they have not seen any difference other then the battery lasting longer.

Since my Excal battery already outlasts my legs by hours that is not an advantage to buy for me.

I read both instruction manuals and the spects on both the diffrence is not worth the price.. ""What Diffrence"".......... Oh the color............................==Jim==

I understand that the Excal II has a lighter coil and should have faster response. Max of VA. says it's sweet and that is good enough for me, but my Excal I works fine for me and I have five water detectors I can use as a back up if needed so I won't be getting the newer green one.

Sandman I see you have the Whites PI Pro listed. Can you tell me about that one compared to say the Tiger Shark and the Excal. Ive had both of those but always wanted to try the Whites PI. I had a Headhunter PI a few years back and it sure was deep, probably the deepest detector I ever used but I didnt care for the short battery life, seemed like it was only good for two hunts and always ran out of juice when I was in the water ;D
Like you and Jim say, I doubt I would upgrade if I had an Excal already.....I had sold off my older one and was without a water machine when they came out so it was an easy choice to get one. I would however like to add another PI machine to the detectors I use.
Thanks,
Neil

Check out the manual at the Minelab site. I don't see any difference except the color and lighter coil. A lighter coil would be nice.
