Detector(s) used
Minelab excalibur 1000, CTX 3030
I had Minelab do the modification to my Excalibur, I sent them my detector along with a new set of Gray Ghost underwater headphones to have the Ikelite connector installed (Minelab supplies the connectors). This was about 2 years ago and I think the cost with parts and labor was around $70.00, my warranty on my Excalibur was still valid being that Minelab did the work. I feel the cost was well worth it in the end, $120.00 for the Gray Ghost phones and $70.00 for Minelab's service.

I emailed them a few days ago and have not heard back plus some others on this board said they no longer do that.

very easy to do if you have a soldering gun.you can buy the water proof connectors several places. it will void your warranty but if its already voided,go for it.i have read they do have a leak problem.iv done some of my own and don't use connectors, just heat shrink tubing and silicone seal.

If this is the connector, I would have to say there are better connectors out there:
http://www.ikelite.com/web_pages/ics_conn.html

Beyond saying that... I would have to do a lot of digging and pulling of specs and part numbers before I could tell you WHAT to buy... and since I don't have an Excalibur it's a lot of work to do all of that.

Here's some Connector company names to get started though, Amphenol, Veam, and Deutche. Look for IP-68 rated connectors.

Newmar makes some nice marine grade penetrations they usually have a slotted rubber block that compresses when you tighten the gland nut . I would check it out because they make marine power supplies and cannot afford leaks.
