Excalibur II carbon fiber scuba shaft

I am interested in buying an Excalibur II. If I did, I would use it mainly for scuba diving right offshore

Has anybody bought this?


  1. How do you attach the control cylinder, rechargeable battery pod and control panel?
  2. How does this attach to the coil?
  3. Do I need to buy an additional shaft to attach this to?

Are there other carbon fiber scuba shafts for the Excalubur II made by other manufacturers?

I'm concerned that I might buy a scuba shaft, them after I get it, I find out that I need another shaft to make it work, or that I may need to buy some washers because washers were required but didn't come with it like the 1st review on this one.


I want to make sure I have all the parts I will need.

Did your Excalibur come with the short dive shaft? If not, you'll need the dive shaft that's pictured in the Amazon link that you posted. The control and battery pods attach to the upper assembly below your arm. They attach just like they do on a stock shaft except the pods are turned 90 degrees. Look for pictures online of the setup put together. There's probably thousands of them.

I didn't buy an Excalibur yet. I want to make sure I know everything I need to get first. What you're saying about needing the lower shaft makes sense.

On a separate note, can you disconnect the headphones? I don't think I would need them underwater. I don't use the ones that came with my Equinox when I detect the beach.

The detector should come with the short, dive shaft, and it should fit the Anderson. The headphones are hardwired to the control pod, so not removable. The Excalibur does not have a built-in speaker.
 
I have this shaft and machine combination. It doesn't tire my hand when working underwater compared to the original shaft. I recommend it.

Just to be sure, an you post a link of the upper and lower shaft?
 
My shaft is complete, without a front rod. It is intended only for underwater work with autonomous equipment (SCUBA). I bought it on Ebay a few years ago. This is an incredible shaft, created by people who understand hydrodynamics. As I said, it does not tire the hand, because the battery and control module are located horizontally from each other, and not vertically, as in the original shaft. I went to the site and to my surprise I can not find it.
 
Yes, I have that shaft too. The back part is exactly the Anderson one you show, and the front part is the long shaft of Excalibur.
The shaft is longer than yours in the picture, but the connection mechanism is the same.

I took some pictures of the standard grip on the Anderson carbon shaft and the front shaft from the Excalibur 2. As you can see, everything fits perfectly.

I bought this carbon fiber shaft for my Equinox 800.


Since then, my Equinox broke. I might buy an Excalibur II.

Can the Excalibur II control unit be attached to these carbon fiber poles?
Yes, but I might suggest you check out the Anderson Straight Shaft first...

I forgot to ask, when you recommend the Anderson shaft, do you mean for beach detecting or underwater detecting?

It looks like the Anderson straight shaft is one of these. How is the Anderson straight shaft better than this one I already have?

Also, instead of buying a one-piece shaft, why not buy a shaft that can breakdown into 2 or 3 pieces?
