Excal's maiden voyage = gold!
After a fairly successful year (ok, not really, but I had fun anyway) with my Sand Shark, I decided to spring for an Excal 1000. My experience with the Shark was that it was fine for wet sand where digging trash doesn't mean lots of wasted effort, but in heavy surf, I got tired of getting beat down for iron.
1st Excal impressions:
1. It's a LOT heavier than my Sandshark. I found myself heading for deep water just to take the load off.
2. The treshold is so smooth compared to the Shark. I can set it much lower and pick out really faint
signals.
3. I did not dig a single piece of trash today! Amazing. And yes, I had the Disc set to 1.
4. If my wife thinks I was ate up with this hobby before, she's gonna hate the Excal.
Here's the Excal's maiden nut. The ring's 14K, 5dwt.
