Hey yall. I am using an older exp II with the probe. It seems to be acting up alot lately. Its going off like silver sounds even when im on top of iron. My settings are ferrous, sens 32 with the box around it. Gain 9, var and limits 10, response normal, deep on fast off. Im not sure what is goin on with it. I even took coil cover off n cleaned it. Oh, i run IM on at -8. I feel its not goin as deep or hitting objects like it used too. Could it just be me or does it sound like i have the settings all messed up. PLEASE HELP!!! :help:

ya, factory reset still didnt work. I was reading about taping the coil wire to see if coil is shot and it makes the silver signal sound. So im leaning towards a shot coil. :/

do you have somone Local you can
get theirs to throw on for a few minutes ?

I Believe the ETrac has the same Coil connetion

Ya jeff, im gonna talk to ed, he has another stock, the WOT and a 6x8 sef

i would imagine.

it's an Explorer SE

all coils fbs is the same -etrac ,explorer, safari ,quatro. What is your coil? standart? or something ells?

Its the standard 10.5 coil.

my suggestion look for new coil or good the same coil, standart coils are best for explorers. if coil was used allot, cable can be dead. Have allot old coils and all cables with age and in banding points starts to disintegrate and nothing we can do about.

Hey guys, After doin a process of elimination, i found out my problem!!! Its the box for the sun ray probe!!! Inside it is a black wire that broke from the solder. I resoldered it and now its working 150% better!!! No blown coil, shorted wire or anything big. Just this little wire that broke off causing the machine to run eratic!!! Thanks for all the help guys!!! Greg Horning

Firefighter, that was some great troubleshooting. I can't believe that they send those circuit boards out uncleaned and it's loaded with flux.
