I found this Revolutionary war Continental Army Officer's Silver applied USA script button. It is one of 3 known examples of this construction and design and the only known example in this size. The shank is intact and bent to the back side. An expert told me it is a waistcoat button. This would have been worn by a senior officer. The 2 larger button were found in New Jersey and mine was found in Connecticut near the hub of Revolutionary War activity. Imagine if this button belonged to GW himself. Happy Hunting!
