Way cool! Looks like a Kansas/ Nebraska style axe that I've seen before, but found outside of those states also. The material that it's made out of looks very nice (pinkish-red) in the picture.
Fact is a lot of people think they may must go out into the boondocks to find indian artifacts, but the informed artifact hunter knows that many towns, cities, and villages were chosen for sometimes the same reasons another culture would have chosen it. If that was whole, you'd have a gem of a find there, as is it would be a memorable find in anyone's book, congrats!

Those two axes in the pic. above were found together in a cache in Pottawatomie County, Iowa near Council Bluffs.
 

Right in town of Council Bluffs IA also.
