plastic screws that attach toilet seats to the toilet bowl work too. Get them cheap at a hardware store

Lowes or Home Depot. Go to the Hardware department and ask for Nylon bolts and wingnuts. I can't remember if they're 1/4" or 5-16" bolts. Our local stores have them in the misc. hardware bins along with the cotter pins and cork stoppers.
