Last week I exchanged 4 boxes of halves at 4 different dump banks. Each bank I got 5 $100.00 bills. I did not look closely at the bills. When I went to pick up 2 boxes at one of my pick up banks yesterday they informed me that one of the bills was a counterfit. They had already seen 2 others of these older bills this week. For the life of me I can not remember which bank gave me this fake bill. Guess I am out $100.00

I don't have a strong magnet or a BFO detector.
I think the 12 under the 2 pretty much tells me it is a $100.00 printed over a bleached out small denomination bill.
Yeah, I agree now that we've seen a close up of the Federal Reserve District Number 2 (New York) with the 12 (San Fran.) bleached out. The serial number looks like it has some ghost numbers hiding too. I believe I see an L just to the left of the B. That would correspond with the 12 from San Fran.

Hey, could you take it to the police? Couldn't they possibly trace it back to the right bank? I mean, counterfeiting is an FBI matter....

sadly many money fakers today use 1 or 5 dollar bills and bleach out the real notes features and reprint them as 100 dollat bills --so that they will pass the ink pen test for real bill "paper"...

I believe it is Secret Service's turf. Not FBI. SS has two functions, one is protecting US presidents and the other is chasing fake money.

during the civil war --the confederates faked union money to try and wreck the unions economy ...the secret service was started to fight the funny money makers and only after Lincoln as killed did they become the presidents --"body guards"
