Farm field whatizit?

Found this is a recently plowed farm field, the farm dates back to the 1800;s. It is pointed on one end and is forged iron, the flat edge is beveled towards the front....Any ideas

A friend of mine had a guess and it sounded possible, but am still not sure....he said it looked like something they used to beat the dirt and dust over rugs they had hanging....??
