Farm May Be Older Than Originally Thought...

One of my permissions has interesting ground anomalies using Lidar. This permission shows a home and outbuildings on the 1874 map. Next map going back is 1854 and nothing shown in the area. Maybe someone lived there prior to 1874 that wasn't shown on the map. I was finally able to check some of those out today. Two of the possible cellar holes were completely overgrown with sticker bushes and other thick brush. Very disappointing to say the least. I had nothing with me to cut back the brush. Going to need to go back with a machete and a saw. The last area I checked was the largest on Lidar. I couldn't get anywhere near it to even see anything. This property is going to be a park in the future. It's a good thing I have a couple years to get in and search before the whole area is bulldozed.

It's not very noticeable in the picture. By this time, I had already cut my arms on sharp sticker bushes, so I didn't get any closer. I was about 10 foot away when I took the pic. Behind the yellow/orange tree there is a hole about 10'x10' square lined with stone. I could see that with my eyes, but the pic doesn't show it to well. On one side it has what looks to be a partial chimney.

There are large stones lying around the area of the cellar hole. Wondering if they were once part of the structure.

Had the Manticore with me and swung around a bit. Looks like lots of iron around that first cellar hole. Didn't dig anything though.

Made our way out to the old farm today to try to get closer to what I believe is the original home foundation on the property. The pics don't do it justice, but the foundation is still somewhat stone lined on two sides. The stones still in place are below the tree running to the top and right side of the pic below. In the area my wife dug a large piece of sheet steel all folded up. I didn't take a pic but should have. Just now wondering if it could have been roofing from the home. Lots of iron signals around the hole. Probably go back next week after the rain washes away the snow tonight and tomorrow.

This is inside the remains of the 1870's bank barn. Any idea what the large stone is in front of the wall? Almost looks like couch from the Flintstones show.

We also checked out another anomaly roughly 150 yards away from the old cellar. It too has stone lined sides. It's much larger, I'm thinking barn. Again, I didn't take pics. Spent too much time there cutting brush and sticker bushes out of the way so I could get in. Would the original home have built the barn 150 yards away from the home? Seems too far.

There is also a small creek about 20 yards off the cellar hole. I noticed it last time but didn't follow it to see where it came from. Today I noticed it looks like it starts with a spring. Not much water running from it today, but it must have been flowing pretty well at some point as deep as it is.

Got out to the old farm today to do some detecting around the old foundation. Holy Cow, I've never seen so many thorn bushes. They're all over the foundation. Took some more pics of the foundation for you all to get a better idea of what I'm working with.

After cutting away some more of the thorn bushes I moved to the area between the old cellar and the 1870's home. First signal was a 72 on the Manticore, holy crap, it was a coin!

Unfortunately, it's slick and I can't ID it. It's 27.2mm, 1.4mm thick, and weights 5.93gms.

Next, I found two pieces of a spoon handle.

Next was a large part of a sleigh bell.

Next, a rein guide.

No idea what this is.
