A friend is cleaning out his mother's house and brought this little item over for my inspection. It's 5" long, and the cylinder appears to be like acrylic. The metal "shoulder" has a silver look to it, and sure enough it is marked "Sterling." The item on top may or may not be an original part; we're not sure. Coming out of the silver part is a sandwich of metal, similar to a knife handle. Any ideas what this might be?
